How it all started..
In 2005, Tom picked up his first camera: a Sony 4MP point-and-shoot camera to document life in South Africa, where he lived for 16 months. It didn’t take long, and Tom was hooked on photography, which would become an integral part of his life from then on.
Fast forward to today, and Tom has made his passion his living. After completing a Master’s Degree in Tropical Marine Ecology, he made the plunge into freelance photography and videography projects in Germany. With a rocky start but a clear goal in mind - utilising his skills behind the camera to share environmental stories from all corners of the world - Tom’s path wasn’t always straightforward, actually far from it, but took him steadily towards a recognised force in the independent visual storytelling community. Over the past years, Tom has been sent on various assignments taking him all around the world working for the largest nature- and culture-focussed organisations on the planet.
In 2018, Tom returned to Fiji, where he had lived and studied between 2015 and 2016, and worked on creating his own business: at the end of 2019 Pacific Media House was born.
Over the years, Tom has built relationships with many different organisations and agencies, and his client base today consists of inter-governmental bodies, international and local NGOs, and high-end luxury resorts.
Tom is a member of the International League of Conservation Photographers and the Ocean Artists Society, was named German Science Photographer of the Year in 2015/2016, and has won numerous awards and nominations with his images and films.
Still and moving images have the power to inform, inspire and ultimately evoke change for the better. Creating emotional visuals requires more than just a camera and the right equipment: it needs vision, passion and dedication. Whether being on an expedition in remote areas on difficult assignments or filming a promotional short film for a luxury resort - every single project requires a creative vision, technical excellence, and ultimately superior storytelling skills to bring it all together.
At Pacific Media House we love what we are doing and are looking forward to putting in all our efforts, love and creativity into your project.
